A custom-fitted sports mouthguard protects your teeth and significantly reduces the risk of painful and expensive damage from injuries around the mouth.

Sporting accidents are one of the most common causes of dental injury, but they’re also often easily prevented. If you play a contact sport or any sport where your mouth may get knocked, even in training, a fitted mouthguard from your dentist offers the best protection.

Unlike over-the-counter mouthguards, a fitted mouthguard offers maximum protection and is more likely to remain in your mouth during impact rather than fall out when it is needed most.

They are made from high-quality impact-absorbing material, and come in a range of colours so you can match them with you team uniform.

Mouthguards have been shown to be so effective in dental injury prevention that the Australian Dental Association has teamed with Sports Medicine Australia and is asking sporting clubs to get parents to sign a Mouthguard Policy. This policy obliges parents to fit their child with a mouthguard, or they will not be playing sport.

Custom Fitting and Care for Your Mouthguards

Having your mouthguard customised for your mouth usually involves two short visits to our practice. In the first appointment, your dentist will take an impression or mould of your teeth, from which your mouthguard will be shaped. In your second appointment, you will try the mouthguard in and your dentist will check to see that it fits properly and comfortably, and that there are no sore spots.

Your mouthguard should be rinsed in cold water after every use, and occasionally with mouthwash, and be stored in its rigid container away from heat.

Make sure that you bring your mouthguard to your regular 6-monthly check-ups, as well as when any new adult teeth come through or if your mouthguard is damaged.

The All-on-4 ® treatment concept provides a permanent, screw-retained, same-day replacement for the entire upper and / or lower set of teeth. The procedure is best for patients with significant tooth loss or decay and for people whose bone loss in the jaw area prevents them from getting dental implants.
