DIETARY ADVICE

Our dentists are experts in preventative dental care, and will provide you with the right dietary, lifestyle and oral health advice to care for teeth and gums throughout all stages of life.

Our teeth reveal a lot about our diet, health and lifestyle. Some of the most common dental diseases like tooth decay and dental erosion can begin in childhood, and, if not taken care of, over time can cause holes in the teeth and increased sensitivity, as well as more serious problems like gum disease and loss of teeth.

The good news is that many dental diseases are easily preventable, and improving your diet and lifestyle can be the key to maintaining good oral health and eliminating ongoing dental problems.
We provide general dietary and lifestyle advice for maintaining your oral health and can also provide specialist advice for:

  • pregnant women and nursing mothers
  • babies and toddlers
  • teenagers
  • elderly people
  • Individuals on special diets

Improvements you can make now
While flossing and brushing every day will help you maintain a healthy mouth, making simple positive changes to your diet and lifestyle can also help. We recommend the following tips:

  • Maintain a balanced diet with a variety of foods from each of the five major food groups (whole grains; fruits; vegetables, legumes and beans; lean proteins such as lean beef, skinless poultry and fish; low-fat and fat-free dairy foods).
  • Drink plenty of water, and rinse with water after eating or drinking anything that’s sugary or acidic. Rinsing is especially important after sugary treats, soft drink, tea, coffee and wine.
  • Quit or reduce smoking and alcohol intake. This will help your mouth produce more saliva to rinse away the plaque acids that cause damage to teeth.
  • Limit snacks. If you do snack, choose something healthy like fruit or vegetables or a piece of cheese. It’s best to avoid snacking altogether and opt for meals—eating a larger meal produces more saliva to wash away plaque acids.
Allon

The All-on-4 ® treatment concept provides a permanent, screw-retained, same-day replacement for the entire upper and / or lower set of teeth. The procedure is best for patients with significant tooth loss or decay and for people whose bone loss in the jaw area prevents them from getting dental implants.

Invisalign

Invisalign® takes a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of aligners created for you and only you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth.
